Loose Black Tea

Black tea is high in cancer-fighting antioxidants, and when you steep it using loose leaves instead of bags, you get a rich aroma and dense flavor. When you steep tea, the hot water extracts flavor from the leaves. Whole leaves provide a larger surface area to extract from, creating a deeper taste. Most blends should be steeped for around four minutes for best results.

Countless studies have shown the health benefits of drinking black tea. Studies have linked this beverage to fighting off the formation of free radicals that cause cancer, preventing tooth decay and reducing the risk of heart attack. Many people have replaced their morning coffee with loose black blends like Assam, Darjeeling and Lapsang Souchong. These blends contain less caffeine, and they've been shown to improve concentration levels. They also help to settle the stomach and prevent diarrhea.

Soothing Loose Black Tea Blends

Some people resist drinking loose black blends because they think the taste is bland. Many of the top producers infuse loose black tea with floral and fruit flavors. Jasmine is always a popular choice, and it produces an excellent aroma when brewed. You can also find vanilla, coffee and caramel blends as alternatives to your morning latte. Many people drink vanilla and mint blends to aid in digestion or sooth upset stomachs.

The Tea Farm offers regional blends from India, Sri Lanka and China. In addition to premium-grade loose leaf blends, this online service offers a nice selection of serving sets and gift certificates.
